    Trying to Help My Brother

My brother has become really withdrawn after his divorce, and it worries the whole family. He is open to seeing someone, but asked me to help find a place that people actually trust. Can anyone point me toward a therapist, counselor, or psychiatrist in New York who has made a real difference for you or someone you know?

Re: Trying to Help My Brother

After my friend’s divorce, he shut himself off in a similar way, barely talking or going out. It took some time, but once he agreed to see someone, things slowly improved. We helped him look around NYC and came across this spot: mental health counselor - it seemed trustworthy without feeling too formal. What mattered most was just taking that first step and not doing it alone.

Psalm 34:18 is the one people come back to for this: "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."
If he wants more than one verse to sit with, Bible Verses for Hard Times is a decent place to start.
